Our one day Introduction to Upholstery class is designed to give you an introduction to all of the basic skills and techniques of upholstery, through making your own footstool. You’ll also gain an insight into those ‘tricks of the trade’ which achieve a professional finish. With a maximum of 3 students per tutor, you’ll get plenty of individual assistance. Tutors are fully qualified and experienced.
The day is split into two sessions of 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm. Morning is spent going through the factory using the various machinery, especially the sewing machines, and covering a base board. In the afternoon, you choose fabric from our stock, and then cut foam, cut and sew the fabric, sew the cover and cover the footstool. Then your master piece is yours to take home.
Cost for a one day workshop is $350 incl all materials.(if you wish to upgrade from plastic glides to wooden legs there is an additional cost .)

Plus, once you’ve done the day course, by arrangement you can bring in your own projects and use the factory. The cost is for this is just $15 per hour and includes basic items like staples, sewing threads, glue: any other material are costed. The hourly cost also includes general guidance from a tradesperson. We want you to achieve a good result, and will help where necessary. If we spend more time or do part of the work for you, we’ll work it out together and this will be charged out accordingly.
